The semimajor axis Eric Weisstein's World of Math of the Earth's orbit around the Sun at one particular epoch (I believe the year 1900), equal to m according to the International Astronomical Union 1976 System of Astronomical Constants. It is technically defined as the radius of a circular orbit around the Sun followed by a hypothetical massless particle possessing an orbital period of days, where is the Gaussian gravitational constant.
