Röntgen, Wilhelm (1845-1923)
    

German physicist who discovered X-rays Eric Weisstein's World of Physics in 1895 after observing that a sheet of paper coated with barium platinocyanide glowed when a cathode ray tube Eric Weisstein's World of Physics was turned on. He received the first Nobel prize in physics in 1901.
