Gravitational Potential
    

By analogy with the electric potential, the gravitational potential at a point r of a body with mass density distributed as can be defined as

where the variable of integration ranges over all points on the body. Note that the gravitational potential is not the same as (although it is closely related to) the gravitational potential energy.
